Integrated system for research and complex monitoring of the environment in the Danube river area, REXDAN

The REXDAN research infrastructure will be completed by the end of 2023.
The project infrastructure will consist of two components: a research ship and a fixed system of laboratories complementary to those on the research ship. A total of 18 laboratories will be created on the two components.
The project will cover a wide geographical area (2000 km on the navigable sector of the Danube with extensive areas from the river basin) and research areas related to water, sediments, soil, air, biodiversity, bathymetry, hydromorphology, etc. thus approaching multiple domains: chemistry, biology, physics, environmental science, ecology, bathymetry, topography, atmospheric chemistry, sustainable development, etc.
The REXDAN infrastructure will contribute directly to increased research performance through international cooperation and will support the excellence of both “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galați and of its projects, by opening up to the best research teams at European and international levels and by ensuring scientific innovation and original approaches.
